What are alternative medicine therapies?

by Ask a Healer

There are many, many therapies and modalities under the broad category called Alternative Medicine Therapy, which is a branch of natural healing that is sometimes called Complementary Medicine or CAM. Included in these alternative health treatments are herbal remedies, ayurveda, homeopathy, chiropractic care, iridology, foot reflexology, nutrition therapy, acupuncture, aromatherapy, naturopathy, music therapy, folk remedies, energy medicine modalities and massage. ps. Human Guinea Pig Here:

Out of all the types of alternative health treatments mentioned above, I've tried all except accupuncture. I have a think about breaking the skin and also a thing about needles. I've had wonderful success with acupressure though and love that needle-less approach. All the rest, I've tried and with success. In recent years, the alternative health business has been infiltrated by what I consider money-making nutrition schemes, the majority of which are designed and targeted toward weight loss.

Not that there aren't great herbal remedies, essential oils, ayurvedic and homeopathic remedies for weight loss but most I read about do not take the slow, safe, synergistic route to weight loss that nutritionists, herbalists, naturopaths and wellness counselors would advise.

Instead, the alternative health business is almost entirely focused on formulas that rev up the metabolic rate artificially and temporarily, which allows for quick weight loss at the beginning but inevitable failure as the body burns out and the weight comes back plus some. about healthy weight loss

Those in the alternative health field who are in it for the right reasons will tell you that, if something sounds too good to be true, then it is. The fact that a formula is "natural" does not mean that it is synergistically in tact as nature intended. Ethical wellness counselors will not push the fast fix but will advise you that natural remedies and alternative therapies both may work more slowly than chemicals or drugs and that patience, along with other beneficial lifestyle changes, makes the difference between reaching your health goals through alternative medicine therapies and failing to reach them.
