Ayurvedic Herb for Fibro - Turmeric:
Tumeric has a very long history of use as a culinary herb. It's woody, earthy flavor lends itself to to many dishes and is one ingredient that is necessary in the creation of curry powder so it is no surprise that tumeric is
so often included in East Indian dishes.
In fact, India is the world's leading producer of tumeric for consumer use, as well as the largest consumer.
Turmeric has popularity outside India as well, For example, Southeastern Asian recipes for relishes and mustards often call for tumeric.
Though not as aromatic as saffron, tumeric can be used to replace real saffron for comparable flavoring and coloring of foods.
In addition to being a flavorful substance to add to foods, tumeric contains an ingredient called curcumin that works remarkably well
against free radical damage because of it's superiour antioxidant qualities.
Used as an inflammatory agent, the curcumin in tumeric
reduces inflammation by lowering histamine levels and possibly by increasing production of natural cortisone.
Curcumin also helps protect the liver and prevent blood platelets
from clumping, which makes it n excellent supplement to take for poor circulation and to protect your body against atherosclerosis.
As with any other health supplement, there exist potential side effects with using turmeric. If considering adding this important spice to your diet please review some of the more common turmeric side effects and cautions.
Though no human studies have been conducted using curcumin to combat cancer, there are several studies that have been done with animals whic
show a definite cancer-preventing action with of curcumin, possibly due to it's antioxidant properties.
Of course, the anti-inflammatory properties bear special notice with fibro sufferers since it is believed that general body inflammation may be an underlying factor
in fibromyalgia pain.
Beneficial also for Fibro - Guggulu ( Commiphora mukul ):
Commiphora mukul is a small tree that grows wild in India. The medicinal part of the tree is the gum resin.
In Ayurvedic
medicine, the Commiphora mukul tree is highly revered in Ayurveda for its medicinal properties.
It is more commonly referred to as guggulu or guggul and has had some attention for addressing high cholesterol, in addition
to other uses in ayurvedic medicine.
The gum resin that is carefully extracted from the Commiphora mukul tree is pale yellow in color and aromatic.
It quickly solidifies and the dried resin has a bitter aromatic taste. The odor, then, is of balsam.
Guggulu is used to address many issues including
arthritis, bronchitis, diabetes, fevers, weight loss, PMS, stress, and ulcers.
