How much is a healing experience worth? Factors to consider when evaluating spiritual retreat costs

Have you been considering attending a spiritual retreat, health retreat or workshop on healing? It can be confusing to determine the true value of an experience when you haven't yet had the experience.

In my own life, I've invested as little as $50 and as much as $2,000 for healing work, spiritual training or other natural health remedies I've been led to receive. I've traveled as little as 25 miles and as much as 2,400 miles to have spiritual and healing experiences that my soul needed.

All-inclusive retreats are probably the least-expensive investment you can make in your own spiritual development and healing because there are usually no hidden or extra charges, so look for all-inclusive offerings.

Spiritual retreats that are all-inclusive, which is to say they include meals and lodging, may save you a nice amount. Healing Retreats that are all inclusive may save you even more because extra massages, Reiki sessions, natural therapies, treatments and supplements can really add up if not part of the total retreat package.

Convenience is another factor. Lovely to have everything you need there already. If the retreat combines a lot of different experiences, that's also usually a savings from having to reserve time separately for different consultations, treatments or classes.

Another reason all-inclusive retreats are better for spiritual transformation is that you don't have to break the energy created in the retreat space by going back out into the world. Easier to integrate and stabilize the spiritual shifts.

If traveling long distances is a factor in your choice, search for similar retreats in your area.

If money determines value for you, then add up the hours of the workshop or retreat and, using your own hourly rate, see how that stacks up for you. Be sure to add in all-inclusives like lodging and food in the equation too.

For a full day workshop, for example, the faciltator probably spent at least one day in preparation so add that plus the hours of the workshop itself to arrive at the approximate hourly wage. If the workshop facilitators had to travel to this retreat, to be in front of you for the workshop or the healing sessions, that time should be estimated as well.

On this page, I used to list my own hours of preparation, participation and after-retreat clean up, as an example. However, since I did my healing retreats and spiritual workshops in my home, it was not really an accurate comparison to the expense and labor necessary to facilitate retreats held at meeting halls and conference centers.

Even after doing all the logical computing your mind wants to do, the bottom line is whether or not the retreat or workshop feels right to your Higher Self so take time to go into meditation and prayer about the event, ask questions you need to ask beforehand, and let your Spirit decide what this experience may be worth to you.
