Healthy Weight Loss Tips
Truly Superior Weight Loss Program

Thank you for your interest in healthy weight loss. Before you read the helpful and useful weight loss tips on this page, I hope you will take a moment to read about Daryn Peterson's remarkable weight loss program.

I absolutely favor organic foods and try to eat organic whenever possible.

I also believe whole foods are nature's medicine in many ways, including helping the body to maintain the correct weight. Whole food nutrition actually gets absorbed and used by your system, more than any other type of food consumed. To the person seeking to lose weight, this translates into more energy and less cravings.

Until now, I could find no weight loss program that included both.

There are few organic weight loss programs out there and only one that is both organic and whole food, as far as I know, so it's with great confidence that I recommend you read about the Whole Foods Organic Weight Loss Program you see pictured above.

Focus on healthy weight loss: Are there body wraps that work?

Question on effective weight loss: I was on a commercial weight loss program for 6 days. I was disappointed because I expected to lose at least 6-8 pounds and I lost nothing. I struggle with depression, stress, and anxiety because of the weight and the guilt from overeating practically kills me. What do you suggest for healthy weight loss?

Healing Facilitation Response: I believe a healthy body will naturally move itself toward normal weight, slowly and safely. A body that is out of balance in any significant way can have trouble doing that.

Most overweight issues can be addressed by finding the underlying imbalance in the body, which may be physical in nature or the result of emotional issues. I encourage those wishing to lose weight to focus more on building health and less on losing pounds, especially at first.

Detox as a first step toward healthy weight loss:

In my typical approach to wellness counseling that involves weight loss, I suggest that a person check into detoxing as a first step, instead of dieting.

I suggest detoxing first because of the support it lends to the process of losing weight. The body must be clean and the eliminatory and digestive processes must be working normally or any type of diet will be harder on the body.

Emotional factors in being overweight:

The guilt and depression you are experiencing pose definite emotional challenges that will need to be addressed.

You say that you struggle with depression, stress and anxiety because of the weight and guilt from overeating but I suspect that these are emotions you feel at other times in your life as well.

Addressing your mental and emotional state is vital for success in achieving your weight loss goals. Shifting your perception from a goal of losing weight to a goal of being more healthy can help. If your goal is to become healthy, in all areas of your health including emotional, then your thinking will shift to balance your emotional needs with your weight loss plan.

Subliminals and Hypnosis Tapes can help:

Self-help programs that are quite effective at helping retrain your mind when it comes to food include subliminal programming tapes or cd's and hypnosis tapes. Subliminal tapes contain affirmations that are below the conscious level of hearing. They work because they bypass the critical conscious mind and effect the subconscious, the level of mind where our beliefs get installed.

Many times, we are operating from subconscious belief patterns that are in conflict with our conscious goals.

For example, let's say a person has a critical parent as a child. Perhaps, this parent made comments about the child's weight to others in their presence. The child might remember feeling hearing those comments but they may not have realized, as a child, how deeply those comments were getting integrated into their definition of themselves.

Subliminals work the same way, but in a positive way. They send positive statements into your mind, which support you in positive change.

Hypnosis tapes are different, in that you usually hear every word. Hypnosis is designed to lead the conscious mind into a state of relaxed receptivity so that the trained hypnotherapist can then teach your mind a new way to react and respond to food, emotional issues around food, and your own self-image.

Whether you choose subliminals or hypnosis or some other form of selfhelp program, it is vital that you feel comfortable with the content. If hypnosis, the voice on the tape should create relaxation, comfort and a sense of safety. You should feel yourself able to relax into whatever you are listening to so pay attention to your feelings and choose programs that feel supportive and safe to you.

I would also recommend joining an online or community weight loss support group. It would be an excellent source of information and support.

Finding the right weight loss program:

Next, after addressing cleansing and the mind, you will be ready to find a good weight loss program that will work for you.

Good programs help to ensure that weight loss occurs at a healthy pace. Losing weight too fast throws your body into thinking that it is starving which eventually causes you to have to eat more. Your body will also store more fat because it feels it is not getting enough to eat. So, the best thing to do is find a healthy program that fits your lifestyle.

Setting realistic weight loss goals:

I might also add that expecting to lose 6-8 pounds in less than a week is not realistic. If you were to lose that much, it would be mostly water loss, not pounds. In order to lose safely and keep the weight off permanently, aim for no more than 2-3 pounds of weight-loss per week.

Weight Loss Tip for those who do the C word (cook): If a recipe calls for milk, substitute buttermilk instead! Buttermilk contains only 2.2 grams of fat per cup. This is far less than the 8 grams contained in whole milk or the 5 grams in 2% milk. Consider using buttermilk as a low-fat substitute for cream in your favorite soup, casserole, or dairy-based recipe.

Is your diet sabotaging you?

Isn't it strange that so many people are always dieting, yet the numbers of obese and overweight people are rising every year? Years of dieting have even been shown to cause slow metabolism which can lead to weight gain. These important questions, from Native Remedies, can help you determine if it's time to rethink your diet plan:

weight loss formulas
  • Do you feel tired and lethargic all the time?
  • Is it difficult to lose weight even when you diet?
  • Do you often suffer from constipation?
  • Is your hair and skin dull and lifeless?
  • Do you suffer from allergies, sinus headaches, acne, frequent colds?

If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, you may want to find out
why the way you are trying to lose may be making you gain.

    Absolutely necessary dietary changes:

If you want to lose weight in a healthy way, there are certain dietary choices that are just contrary to that goal.

There is no use sugar-coating this (and that is a pun). There are certain foods that are just plain unhealthy for the body but for those with weight issues, they go beyond just creating a constant low-grade attack on the system.

In my opinion, those with serious weight issues need to really commit to giving up the following:

    refined sugar products
    fried fast foods
    white flour products
any product with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils.

Additionally, artificial sweeteners (aspartame, xylitol, sorbitol, splenda, sucralose, etc.) should be replaced with more system-compatible sweeteners like stevia, agave syrup or honey. Obviously, those who are diabetic need to check with their doctor before making any dietary changes but, in particular, those regarding products which might effect blood sugar levels.

    My favorite natural salad dressing:

This is healthy and delicious. I got the recipe from my friend Jenni but added a few ingredients.

You will need: Braggs Amino Acids (can get in any health food store), minced garlic, raw apple cider vinegar (with the Mother - again, get at your health food store), and organic flax seed oil (yep, health food store should have it).

Mix equal parts Braggs and Flaxseed Oil plus 1/2 as much vinegar and garlic to personal taste. Mix well and pour over salad. Easy, so flavorful and satisifying and yet mega healthy.
