The cosmic casting agency was born because I want to see certain people in certain roles. For some reason, I just needed to express it. There are roles that deserve a strong talent at the helm of them. There are people so unique that any film about them should be carried by the strongest talent that could represent them.
Julianne Nicholson as Kate Space:
Like a lot of people, I was stunned to hear of the passing of Kate Spade and even more surprised that her death was a suicide. The increase in suicide deaths in our country is alarming and any film about it could help educate. I hope that whoever undertakes the telling of this story keeps in mind the importance of the content.
As an actor and from an actor's perspective, it is always fun to recreate the energy field of someone with such well-defined mannerisms and speech patterns, when both unique and watchable. I honestly can't see another face playing her besides Julianne Nicholson. I'm sure there are others but this just feels right.
Kate Spade seemed so full of life and yet, we never know what is happening in a person's life. It's easy to look at someone so successful and just assume all must be right in their world. Getting authentic with each other and getting past the fear of stepping on toes or hurting feelings may be required to help someone because, in a position like hers, most would not want to appear weak or less than happy. We owe it to each other, as human beings taking this journey together, to look a little deeper with each other.
