Question on health care and healing: I had a very bad case of tonsillitis when I was seven and then I developed psoriasis. I used to have it all over my body. Although it is bad on my face now, it is a lot better than it used to be. It is taking a very long time to get it out of my system. Is there a spiritual message here?

Healing facilitation response: When I was in school, I had a friend who had psoriasis. I know how difficult that must have been for her during those tender teen-age years. It must have also been difficult for you, contracting it at such an early age.

I'm glad there is more awareness about skin conditions such as psoriasis. Did you know August is psoriasis awareness month? (ps. it was August when I received this email so I was just acknowledging the synchronicity.)

Yes, I believe there is spiritual significance to everything we manifest but those conditions that are considered lifelong and incurable have special significance. First, though, I'll provide some medical information and health care suggestions.

Important FAQ's about Psoriasis:

Psoriasis is not contagious

Current medical opinion is that this is a lifelong condition, something a person will have for the rest of their lives

As high as 1/3 of the people who have psoriasis may also develop a related condition called psoriatic arthritis.

The cause of psoriasis is unknown but it is believed that genetics is a factor.

Psoriasis cannot offically be diagnosed by any particular medical test.

There is no single remedy for this condition that works for every person.

There is more than one type of psoriasis. The most common is called plague (isn't that nice?) but other types include Guttate (causes small dot-like lesions), Pustular (causes prounounced scaling and lesions that weep), Inverse (causes intense inflammation), and Erythrodermic (causes intense shedding and redness of the skin)

Traditional Medical approach to treating psoriasis:

There are a wide range of treatments available, both topical and systemic. No one approach will work for each person so some experimentation is usually need to determine the best health care regimen for each person.

Some of the current treatments include topical creams, steroids, phototherapy, sun therapy, nutritional profiling and changes in diet, biologics (drugs created from animal or human protiens), and water therapy.

Natural approach to addressing psoriasis: For the psoriasis, I find that purifying the blood is very, very important in cases of this type of skin condition I would suggest reading about PureZyme, one of the most powerful blood and liver purifiers I have ever found.

Essiac Tea is another wonderful detoxifier. Remember, though, that the condition you have is a sign of internal toxicity and when that starts healing, your skin may temporarily look worse. You have to hang in there for permanent healing.

Topically, I'd suggest Skin Dr. from Native Remedies. I really trust this company. I believe they have some of the best products out there. The cream should help with reducing external symptoms while the other products mentioned will help cleanse from the inside.

The skin is our largest eliminatory organ so the toxins will release, which may make symptoms worse for a while. Using the topical cream will help the skin do it's job better so that detox and healing can occur faster.

And finally, from a physical level, there may be some kind of lingering, low-grade infection even after all these years. Have your tonsils checked out again. And your eustacean tubes and ears, particularly if your ears are often feeling irritated or itching.

The Spiritual Healing Significance of Psoriasis:

Since psoriasis is lifelong, systemic and thought to be genetically linked, it may sometimes point to past life healing that you've been unable to resolve with some member of your immediate family, and most likely, your father or mother.

I would suspect there was some event or situation at the age of seven that triggered a past life response to a present life situation. If you can think back to whatever was happening then, you may remember some traumatic situation such as divorce, death, illness, prolonged separation, etc.

If it is a past life healing that is needed, it's important to know that you are not doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. With energetic support from a strong healer who recognizes that you must do the work but who knows how to create Sacred Space where that work can happen, you can break genetically linked cellular memory.

Tonsillitis Information, Part One

Tonsillitis: Causes, Treatments, Spiritual Healing Information:Tonsillitis, while not the only reason for a sore throat, is a common reason the throat may hurt. It is caused by inflammation to the tonsils, usually due to either a viral or bacterial infection.

As I mentioned in my article on Cold and Flu Prevention, I believe most colds, flus, ear aches and sore throats could be avoided if a person would simply become more aware of the onset of symptoms. Because our body is such a exquisite machine, and it starts sending out warnings immediately with the slightest threat to homeostasis, many people do not even notice the first warning.

Pre-Symptoms of Tonsillitis, Colds and Flu: If you find yourself with an itchy throat, itchy ears, or any type of feeling just a little below par, take it as a warning. If we learn to treat cold and flu symptoms during the typically 24-hour period of pre-symptoms, we may be able to avoid the sore thoat, aching body and painful lymph nodes a day later.

Spiritually speaking, the throat chakra is all about communication. We usually will manifest congestion there when we are...

not speaking our truth; speaking what we feel others want to hear out of a need for approval or fear of disapproval

not feeling supported to speak and either suppressing communication or building resentment over not feeling free to speak

speaking inappropriately - this is common when we are struggling to release habits of suppression and speak more freely. Lashing out in anger or resentment.

working to release beliefs about being punished or disapproved of for speaking.

I would look at your life at age 7, when the tonsillitis developed and search out what communication may have gotten suppressed at that time. In healing the child within, it is important to give expression in some way to that which has been denied.

In all my work with child abuse victims (and I'm not saying you are one but that the timing is something to look at) the abuse almost always seemed to occur around either age four or age seven. One of the most common impacts of abuse is communication

Journaling is good to help get in touch with what you really need to say. Also speaking aloud, as if you were the child within, finally saying what they needed to say back then. Just getting it out can free up energy that may still be unknowingly blocked. If you have had abuse, it will be important to go further. I would suggest finding a healer who specializes in inner child work.
