Below is a partial list of symptoms, or contributing factors, in instances of insulin resistance syndrome, also called metabolic syndrome x.

1. High Blood Pressure
2. High Trigliceride Levels
3. Low HDL Levels
4. Insulin Resistance
More specifically, and according to the 2001 National Cholesterol Education Program, if a patient meets any 3 out of the following 4 health criteria,
Metabolic Syndrome X is a considered diagnosis:
Obesity specifically in the abdominal region resulting in a waist circumference of more than 102 cm (40 in) in men and more than 88 cm (35 inches) in women.
Serum triglyceride levels of 150 mg/dl or above.
HDL cholesterol levels of 40mg/dl or lower in men and 50mg/dl or lower in women.
Blood pressure of 130/85 or higher.
Fasting blood glucose of 110 mg/dl or above. (Some groups say 100mg/dl)
