The Problem with Weight Loss Supplements:

The rapid weight loss some overweight people initially experience with thermogenic weight loss products is that it is often a sacrifice of lean muscle mass because the weight is coming off too soon, or it is due to dehydration and water weight loss. What good is weighing less if you look flabby or you skin starts looking dead from lack of hydration?

Another serious issue with OTC diet pills and prescription diet pills alike is that they are potentially addictive and also potentially harmful to the kidneys, if taken too long or if people take too many.

And finally, if a diet pill removes appetite through reving up the metabolism artificially, you end up with overworked adrenals and exhaustion. Then, the weight comes back like gangbusters and is even more difficult to lose next time you diet.

What has been needed is a weight loss plan for overweight people that incorporates healthy eating, moderate exercise and a weight loss supplement that would support the body without having an almost amphetamine effect (and resulting dependency) or something that made us not want to eat at all until our body rebelled and we overate to compensate. For me, the missing components in most weight loss formulations were sustained natural energy and nutritional support.


As an herbalist and wellness counselor, I have worked with so many who have struggles with weight. I have seen, over and over, that either energy or basic health was sacrificed to lose a little weight but that the loss wasn't permanent.

As a spiritual healer, I have also had acute awareness that the body is simply our diagnostic tool for how well we are living in accordance with our High Self and Truth. Careful with diet pills!

While there are many thermogenic and diet-pill type remedies out there that will, for most, jump start a sluggish metabolism so that weight falls off quickly at first, the brutal truth is that the body does not allow one to lose weight faster than what is considered healthy to the system so the weight comes back on faster than it left, plus a few pounds.


In order to begin to retrain your metabolic energy system, an overweight person who has been that way any length of time should expect to stay with any weight loss regimen at least 3 months and to maintain a healthy lifestyle of eating for at least 3 years after that time, for the change to be permanent. Of course, after 3 years, why would you ever go back to the old ways! Patience will pay dividends of better rest, more emotional balance, more energy, better health AND permanent weight loss. It's the best way to put an end to struggles with weight.

Also understand that, if you are dealing with any type of health probem or condition in addition to the weight, your body will place the priority on healing first, which means that a holistic approach to weight control may first result in a balancing of the health concerns, before the weight starts to come off. This is exactly as it should be. An overweight person will have better success in losing weight if they first focus on any pressing or serious health conditions and challenges within the system. Strengthen the system first and then the weight will more naturally leave.

Unresolved anger is often a hidden emotional factor in weight gain. When we "stuff" our feelings, we tend to also stuff our face! If you feel that unresolved anger issues might be a factor in your struggles with weight, seek anger management assistance.

Fasting for Weight Loss Caution:

I am a proponent of sensible fasting, both as a practice that can benefit physical health and a practice that can benefit spiritual health. However, fasting to lose weight is not a good idea for several reasons. First, you are depriving your body of it's normal source of energy, glucose and fats. If you do this very long, your body will start eating it's own protein stores, which means literally eating tissue mass.

Fasting to lose weight is not much different than going on any other type of unhealthy diet program. You will end up dehydrated and also lose muscle tone. If fasting too long, other health complications may arise. And, just as when you finally go off any other unhealthy diet, the weight will come back with a vengeance.
